Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Three Palestinian Gunmen Open Fire Near Jewish Settlement

Three Palestinian gunmen carried out a deadly attack on Thursday, killing one person and injuring eight others, including a young pregnant woman, in a terror attack near a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli police.

The attackers, who were later neutralised by the police, unleashed automatic weapons fire on vehicles on a highway east of Jerusalem, leaving five cars riddled with bullets.

Identification of the Gunmen

The gunmen were identified as Mohammed Zawahrah, 26, his brother Kathim Zawahrah, 31, and Ahmed Al-Wahsh, 31, by Israel’s internal security service Shin Bet.

Victims of the Attack

Among the wounded was a 23-year-old pregnant woman who was in critical condition, as reported by the emergency response service Magen David Adom and a spokesperson for the Shaare Tzedek Hospital.

Response from Israeli Officials

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who visited the site of the attack, stated that “The enemies want to hurt us. They hate us.” He called for the distribution of more weapons and emphasized the importance of protecting the Israeli population.

Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich advocated for a firm security response and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank as a deterrent against further attacks.

Escalating Violence in the West Bank

Since the Gaza war sparked by Hamas’ attack on October 7, violence in the West Bank has intensified, resulting in hundreds of casualties. Israeli troops and settlers have been involved in deadly clashes with Palestinians, leading to a rising death toll.

The Palestinian population in the West Bank continues to face challenges in their quest for independence, with ongoing discussions within the international community about the future of the region.

Israeli Parliament’s Stance on Palestinian Statehood

Israel’s parliament recently backed a proposal opposing any unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state, reaffirming the country’s position on the issue amid escalating tensions in the region.

The Gaza war, which began in October, has claimed the lives of numerous civilians on both sides, with the conflict showing no signs of abating in the near future.
