Bhopal: A horrifying incident unfolded in Mauganj district as a woman was allegedly thrashed by her husband in front of relatives during her 2-year-old son’s birthday celebrations, leading to her tragic demise. The victim, identified as Kavita Vishwakarma, 24, succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Sanjay Gandhi hospital in Rewa.

The Incident

The incident took place on February 18 in Arjunnagar village under Hanumana police station. According to reports, the woman was subjected to physical abuse by her husband, Dinesh Vishwakarma, who was under the influence of alcohol during their son’s birthday party. Eyewitnesses claim that the accused not only assaulted his wife but also prevented others from taking her to the hospital.

Police Investigation

A case of unnatural death has been registered at the police outpost in Sanjay Gandhi hospital, Rewa. The Mauganj police are awaiting the case diary to proceed with the investigation. The cause of death will be determined once the autopsy report is received, stated the authorities.

Speaking to TOI, Hanumana police station in-charge, Pragya Patel, mentioned, “Prima facie, it is believed that the woman was attacked by her intoxicated husband during the birthday celebration. There are reports that the accused also assaulted his own father when he tried to intervene and save the victim. However, these are preliminary findings, and a thorough investigation will provide clarity.”
