Child Abuse Investigation Leads to Charges for Frederica Woman

A Frederica woman is facing charges following a child abuse investigation that took place in Felton, Delaware. Late last month, Felton Police responded to a call in the 300 block of Ludlow Lane regarding a report of child abuse. What followed was a thorough 3-week-long investigation that uncovered disturbing details.

Video Surveillance Reveals Disturbing Behavior

During the investigation, detectives reviewed video surveillance footage that showed an employee at a childcare facility aggressively handling four juvenile victims. The footage indicated that these alleged incidents occurred between January 16th and 24th, prompting immediate action from the authorities.

Employee Identified and Terminated

The employee in question was identified as 19-year-old Alyssa Pennington. Upon discovery of the footage, she was promptly terminated from her position at the facility. Subsequently, Pennington turned herself in to Felton Police and now faces serious charges related to the incidents.

Charges Filed Against Pennington

Pennington has been charged with 13 counts of third-degree child abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Following her arrest, she was released on a $132,000 unsecured bond and issued a no-contact order with both the victims and the childcare facility involved in the case.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of children in childcare facilities. The authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.

For now, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the victims and holding those responsible for their actions accountable. As the case continues to unfold, residents are left grappling with the troubling reality of child abuse occurring in their own backyard.
