Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives in Gazipur
Three individuals lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a devastating accident that occurred in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila on Monday morning. The incident took place at approximately 6:30am on the busy Dhaka-Tangail highway, sending shockwaves through the local community.
The victims have been identified as Saikat, aged 35, Jahidul Islam, aged 37, and Mokbil, aged 65. The injured individuals, Abbas and Ramzan, are currently receiving medical treatment at Kumudini Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge Amzad Hossain of Kaliakoir police station confirmed the tragic event, highlighting the swift response of the fire service and police in rescuing the victims. Despite their best efforts, the medical team at Kumudini Hospital was unable to save the lives of three of the passengers who were in the battery-run autorickshaw at the time of the collision.
Naojhor Highway police station Officer-in-Charge Shahdat Hossain revealed that the truck involved in the accident has been seized, although the driver managed to flee the scene. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
This heart-wrenching incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk on the roads, urging both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
