The Long Beach Police Department is currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning. A man has lost his life after a shooting took place in the 5300 block of East 2nd Street.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, authorities were alerted to the shooting at approximately 12:58 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Johnny Santos, was rushed to a local hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Investigation Findings
During the course of the investigation, homicide detectives uncovered that Santos had been involved in a physical altercation with an unidentified individual. As the altercation escalated, the suspect produced a firearm and shot Santos.
As of now, no details have been released about the suspect involved in the incident. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
