A tragic incident unfolded in Long Beach on Sunday, resulting in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man following a confrontation with an unidentified suspect. The Long Beach Police Department received a distressing call and swiftly responded to the scene on the 5300 block of E. 2nd Street around 1 a.m.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered Johnny Santos, a local resident, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Santos was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment, but sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Authorities conducting the investigation revealed that the shooting was a direct result of a physical altercation between Santos and the assailant, who fled the area before the police arrived. The motive behind the altercation remains unclear, leaving detectives with unanswered questions.
