Accident – Death – Obituary News : Woman Arrested in Connection with Murder of Macon Woman

A woman was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the tragic murder of a Macon woman. The incident took place on Wednesday, Feb. 14, when deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about a shooting in the 2300 block of Montpelier Avenue at approximately 6:10 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Ernestine Frye, 49, with a single gunshot wound. Frye was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but sadly succumbed to her injuries shortly after.

April Powell, 43, of Macon, was swiftly identified as a person of interest in the shooting. The following day, Powell was arrested and now faces a murder charge. Currently, she is being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center without the possibility of bond.

The community is left in shock and mourning over the senseless violence that has claimed the life of a beloved member. The authorities continue their investigation to bring justice and closure to the family and friends of the victim.
