In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young student of a private ITI college in Rourkela, Atulan Jojo, was found dead on the rooftop of a house adjacent to the institute’s hostel. The incident took place on Sunday, and police suspect that he fell accidentally from the roof while talking on his mobile phone on Saturday night.
Details of the Incident
Atulan Jojo, a 19-year-old first-year student of the fitter trade, hailed from Nuatola Bansjor village in Sundargarh district. According to reports, he was last seen attending class on Saturday and was in his hostel room until 8 pm. His friends became worried when they couldn’t find him during dinner and even searched for him, but to no avail.
After failing to locate Atulan, his friends tried calling his phone, which went unanswered. Concerned, they informed the hostel warden, who also couldn’t find him. It was only when the owner of the house adjacent to the hostel spotted a body on his terrace that the police were alerted. Upon investigation, the police confirmed that it was Atulan’s body.
Police Investigation
The police have seized Atulan’s phone and earphones and have initiated an investigation into the matter. M Pradhan, sub-inspector of Jhirpani police station, stated, “We have registered an unnatural death case and are waiting for the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death.”
This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and the authorities are working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding Atulan’s untimely demise.
