74-year-old female : “New Castle County Police Investigate Bear Crash”

On a Sunday afternoon in Bear, Delaware, at the intersection of Wrangle Hill Road and Porter Road, a motor vehicle crash involving a patrol vehicle occurred. The incident took place on February 18, 2024, at approximately 4:57 p.m. Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the scene to investigate the collision.

The officer, driving a fully marked patrol vehicle, was attempting to make a left turn onto Porter Road from Wrangle Hill Road when a maroon Buick Envision traveling along Porter Road struck the patrol vehicle. The impact caused the Buick to veer off the roadway, across a yard, and into the side of a vacant rental property. The driver of the Buick, a 74-year-old female, was identified as the at-fault party.

Initial findings from the investigation revealed that the driver of the Buick ran a red light and collided with the patrol vehicle. Fortunately, all individuals involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries and were promptly treated.
