Motor Vehicle Crash In Bear, Delaware

On a Sunday afternoon in Bear, Delaware, at the intersection of Wrangle Hill Road and Porter Road, a motor vehicle crash involving a patrol vehicle occurred. The incident took place on February 18, 2024, at approximately 4:57 p.m. Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the scene to investigate the collision.

The officer, driving a fully marked patrol vehicle, was attempting to make a left turn onto Porter Road from Wrangle Hill Road when a maroon Buick Envision traveling along Porter Road struck the patrol vehicle. The impact caused the Buick to veer off the roadway, across a yard, and into the side of a vacant rental property. The driver of the Buick, a 74-year-old female, was identified as the at-fault party.

Initial findings from the investigation revealed that the driver of the Buick ran a red light and collided with the patrol vehicle. Fortunately, all individuals involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries and were promptly treated. Detectives from the Division’s Traffic Services Unit were called to the scene to take over the investigation, which remains ongoing.
