The victims, identified as Rinki Kumari (9) and her two brothers, Raja Kumar (12) and Subhankar Kumar (13), fell prey to the horrific act of their father, Dinesh Singh. Preliminary investigations revealed that Singh, grappling with financial woes and mental instability, doused his children in petrol before setting them ablaze. He then proceeded to set himself on fire, sustaining severe burn injuries in the process.
Police Report and Villagers’ Claims
Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar shed light on the distressing sequence of events, stating, “Dinesh Singh, a debt-ridden and mentally-disturbed individual, orchestrated this heinous act due to his dire circumstances. While two of the children tragically lost their lives at the scene, the third succumbed to injuries in the hospital. Singh, too, is currently undergoing treatment, with his condition reported as stable.”
According to villagers, Singh was under immense mental strain following the abandonment of other family members, compounding his already precarious state. The community is reeling from the shock of the incident, grappling with the aftermath of such a senseless tragedy.
