In a recent development, a 38-year-old man from Killeen, Texas, has been taken into custody and charged in relation to a murder case that occurred in 2022. The suspect, identified as Demetris Tyrone Prier, was already being held for separate charges when the warrant for his arrest was issued.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on June 24, 2022, in the 1800 block of N. 4th Street in Killeen. Police officers responded to a call regarding a gunshot victim at approximately 2:50 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered 55-year-old Joe Sidney Williams suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention and subsequent hospital care, Williams tragically passed away on August 3, 2022, due to his injuries.

Investigation and Arrest

The case was swiftly handed over to detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit. Following an autopsy ordered by Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield, it was confirmed that Williams’ death was a result of murder. Subsequently, on January 19, 2024, a formal complaint was lodged against Prier for his involvement in Williams’ murder, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson.

Legal Proceedings

Prier was brought before Justice of the Peace Keith Reed for arraignment, during which his bond was set at $500,000.
