Naami was captured on CCTV abducting a dead person from Kibbutz Beeri

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Shocking footage has emerged of a UNRWA worker assisting in the kidnapping of an Israeli body from Kibbutz Beeri on October 7th, further corroborating Israel’s claims of the involvement of the relief agency in the heinous acts committed by Hamas. The video was recently released by the Washington Post.

Last month, Israel informed UNRWA that Faisal Ali Musalam Naami, aged 45, along with 11 other UNRWA employees, were either directly involved in or provided support to the Hamas attack on October 7th. Israeli authorities have reported that Hamas militants, along with other gunmen, killed 1,200 Israelis and held 253 individuals hostage in Gaza.

Israel has presented evidence suggesting that around 30 other UNRWA employees had varying degrees of involvement in the Hamas assault.

These damning accusations have thrown the United Nations into turmoil, prompting the United States — the agency’s primary funder — and other countries to halt funding for UNRWA, jeopardizing its operations in Gaza and the broader Middle East.

The video featuring the individual identified as Naami marks the first public evidence of any of the accused individuals partaking in the attack. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant unveiled a screenshot from the video at a press conference, publicly naming the implicated relief workers. “UNRWA has lost its credibility and cannot function as a U.N. entity anymore,” Gallant declared.

The surveillance footage, unearthed independently by The Washington Post, offers a more comprehensive view than the brief description in the public dossier, which simply states that Naami “was involved in kidnapping a soldier from Beeri.” Additionally, Israel alleges that Naami was associated with a Hamas brigade in his hometown of Nuseirat.

Prior to the news conference, a security official briefed The Post that Israeli authorities had positively identified the man in the footage as Naami. The footage played a crucial role in substantiating Israel’s claims against Naami, as per the official, who requested anonymity to discuss sensitive details.

In the video from October 7th, the SUV approaches an open gate at Kibbutz Beeri around 9:30 a.m. and halts just inside the entrance, where three men, who had been shot and dragged from a vehicle, are sprawled motionless on the ground.

Two individuals exit the SUV. The driver, identified as Naami, wears glasses matching those in his social media pictures. The other man carries a rifle. They open the rear door of the vehicle, lay out a blanket inside, and proceed to one of the victims, a man lying next to an overturned cooler on the street. It remains unclear if the man is alive, but he shows no reaction as Naami grips him by the jacket, the other man lifts his legs, and they place him in the trunk.

Subsequently, they search through scattered belongings on the street, taking a cellphone and a hat before departing less than three minutes after arriving. The destination or reason for taking the Israeli man, as well as the abandonment of the other bodies, remains unclear.

At The Post’s request, two vehicle forensic experts analyzed Naami’s social media images featuring partial views of a white vehicle. They identified the car as a 1993-1995 Nissan Terrano II, noting that the vehicle in the October 7th footage matched the same color, make, and model from the same generation.

Marcus Mazza, a vehicle engineering expert at Robson Forensic, a firm specializing in technical expertise for legal cases, suggested that the separated trim on the vehicle “may indicate that these are the same vehicle.”

Tragically, on October 16th, Naami, along with five of his children and one of his two wives, perished in an airstrike on their residence in Nuseirat, as disclosed by an UNRWA colleague speaking on the condition of anonymity due to lack of authorization to engage with the media. The names of Naami, a woman believed to be his wife, and his children were listed among those killed in Israeli strikes, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The Israel Defense Forces, however, informed The Post that they were unaware of any strike at the specified time or location. An IDF spokesperson, adhering to agency protocol, declined to comment on whether Naami had been targeted.
