Tragic House Fire Claims Life of Woman in Hebron

On a quiet Saturday morning in Hebron, a devastating house fire took the life of a woman in a tight-knit community. The incident occurred at a residence on Quantico Creek Road, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood.

Emergency Response and Tragic Outcome

The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department sprang into action just after 9 a.m. upon receiving reports of the fire. With additional support from neighbouring departments, firefighters rushed to the scene where they found an unconscious woman on the second floor of the home.

Identified as 58-year-old Amy Appleby-Harris, the victim was swiftly attended to by Emergency Medical Services and transported to TidalHealth in Salisbury. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, she tragically succumbed to her injuries before 3 p.m. that same day.

Origin of the Fire and Safety Measures

Deputy State Fire Marshals conducted an investigation and determined that the fire originated in the second-floor master bedroom due to smoking. It was confirmed that the home was equipped with functioning smoke detectors at the time of the incident.

It was noted that the homeowners had pre-existing medical conditions that posed challenges in their escape from the burning property. The Fire Marshal’s Office emphasised the importance of fire safety measures in every household to prevent such tragic losses.
