A tragic incident occurred in East Tremont on Friday night, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man named William Cruz. The incident took place at the intersection of Park Avenue and East 183rd Street.
According to the NYPD, Cruz was riding a gas-powered moped along Park Avenue when he collided with a black sedan on East 183rd Street. The driver of the sedan, who was travelling in the same direction, failed to stop at the scene of the accident and was last seen turning onto Washington Avenue.
Despite being conscious and alert at the time of the collision, Cruz sustained severe injuries and was rushed to SBH Health System, where he tragically passed away.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the hit-and-run incident. The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances surrounding Cruz’s untimely death.
