In a heartbreaking turn of events, a three-year-old girl was beaten to death in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident took place at a home on O’Neal Lane, where authorities responded to a medical assistance call on Monday, Feb. 12. Upon arrival, they found the young girl unresponsive and in critical condition, with severe injuries including a brain bleed and bruises consistent with blunt force trauma.
Discovery of Unattended Children
Authorities discovered that a total of eight juveniles, ranging from 11 months to 12 years old, had been left unattended in the home for several hours. Terica Scott, an acquaintance of the victim’s mother, was present at the scene and admitted to having just returned from a casino, leaving the children unsupervised. She was issued a summons for desertion.
Arrests Made in Connection with the Crime
Following investigations, a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy, identified as Scott’s son and nephew, were arrested on Friday, Feb. 16. They were booked into the EBR Juvenile Detention Center on charges of simple battery and second-degree murder. Scott herself was also taken into custody for her involvement in the incident, facing charges of principal to battery and principal to second-degree murder.
