Accident – Death – Obituary News :

In a shocking development, Israeli officials have made public a video allegedly showing a UN relief worker loading the body of a shot Israeli man into the back of an SUV and driving away from a southern Israeli village during Hamas’ Oct. 7 cross-border attack. The video, first reported by the Washington Post, has sparked controversy and raised questions about the involvement of UNRWA staff in the conflict.

Allegations Against UN Relief Worker

The video, shared online by Israeli officials, identifies the man in the footage as Faisal Ali Mussalem Al Naami, a social worker with the United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip. Israeli intelligence alleges that some UNRWA staff participated in abductions and killings during the Oct. 7 rampage that led to the Gaza war, causing several countries to suspend funding for the Palestinian aid agency. UNRWA, however, denies any wrongdoing and maintains that its role is strictly humanitarian.

Response from UNRWA

Jonathan Fowler, a spokesperson for UNRWA, responded to the video by stating that the agency cannot verify the footage or ascertain the identity of the person in question. He emphasized that UNRWA was not provided with any evidence by the Israeli authorities and called for transparency in the investigation process. UNRWA has initiated its own investigation into the matter and encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Details of the CCTV Footage

The CCTV footage shows a white SUV entering Kibbutz Be’eri, one of the communities heavily impacted by the Oct. 7 attack. The vehicle stops near three bodies lying on the street, and two individuals, one armed with a rifle, emerge from the car. The driver, identified as Naami, assists in loading one of the injured men into the back of the SUV before driving away from the scene.

While Reuters previously published similar CCTV footage from Kibbutz Be’eri, confirming the location through satellite imagery, the identities of the individuals involved remain unverified. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has referenced the video in a media briefing, claiming that over 30 UNRWA workers were complicit in the Oct. 7 massacre and the abduction of hostages.

Call for Further Investigation

As the controversy surrounding the video grows, there is a pressing need for a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the facts of the case. Both Israeli officials and UNRWA have called for transparency and cooperation in the investigation process to uncover the truth behind the events depicted in the CCTV footage.

With tensions escalating in the region, the release of this video has further complicated the ongoing conflict and raised concerns about the involvement of humanitarian workers in acts of violence. The repercussions of these allegations could have far-reaching consequences for UNRWA and the broader international community’s efforts to provide aid and support to those affected by the conflict in Gaza.
