Location of Incident: Birmingham, West Midlands

On a tragic Friday afternoon in Birmingham, the city was rocked by a series of violent incidents that left the community reeling. The day began with a call for a triple homicide, but soon escalated to a quadruple homicide as a fourth victim succumbed to their injuries at UAB Hospital.

Double Homicide on 10th Avenue

The day’s events unfolded in the 4100 block of 10th Avenue, where a couple, Christian Norris and Angeliyah Webster, both 20 years old and from Birmingham, were reported missing since Valentine’s Day. The couple had set out for an evening at an unknown theater but never returned. Their white Ford Taurus, matching the description of the missing couple’s vehicle, was discovered on the scene.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department revealed, “Upon further investigation, officers observed the victims inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Tragically, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.”

Neighborhood Carwash Shooting

Earlier in the day, a separate shooting occurred in the 900 block of Center Street, where four adult male victims were found in an open area. Three of the victims, identified as Cortez Ray, Talton Tate, and Terrell Edwards, all from Birmingham, were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth victim, Kevin McGhee, was rushed to UAB Hospital with life-threatening injuries but did not survive.

Chief Scott Thurman of the Birmingham Police Department expressed the city’s shock and grief, stating, “Today, the City of Birmingham experienced an unfathomable amount of senseless violence. As a result, five men and one woman lost their lives.” He emphasized the need for the community to come together and support the police in solving these heinous crimes.

Call for Public Assistance

Thurman appealed to the public for any information that could aid in the investigation, highlighting the urgency of the situation. He stressed that while the motive behind the shootings remains unknown, the police are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

In the wake of Friday’s tragic events, Birmingham stands united in mourning the loss of six lives to senseless violence. The community looks to law enforcement for answers and justice, as they navigate through this dark chapter in the city’s history.
