For some individuals, family-based behavioral coaching reduces escalation during meals by teaching supportive guidance, planned ignoring of refusal behaviors, and systematic encouragement of trials.

Nutritional interventions should be precise but not overly restrictive. Dietitians commonly ensure adequate calories and micronutrients through tolerated foods while gradually expanding variety.
