Tragic Accidents Claim Lives of Three Ashtabula County Residents
In a series of devastating events, the Ashtabula County community has been rocked by the accidental deaths of three residents in separate fires. The Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office Chief Investigator, Amber Stewart, has confirmed that the tragic incidents were not the result of foul play.
Albert Stanonik’s Tragic End in Monroe Township
The first incident occurred on January 16, when 75-year-old Albert Stanonik lost his life in a house fire at 4485 Middle Road in Monroe Township. Chief Investigator Stewart revealed that Stanonik’s cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning, and the fire that claimed his life was deemed accidental. Firefighters from Monroe Township responded to a call at the home in the early hours of the morning, only to discover Stanonik’s lifeless body in the charred remains of the house.
Camdyn Probst’s Untimely Demise on Lake Road
Just a few days later, tragedy struck again when a car fire on Lake Road, just east of County Line Road, claimed the life of 21-year-old Camdyn Probst. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Chris Thane reported that troopers found a vehicle engulfed in flames, with Probst’s body discovered inside after the fire was extinguished. The investigation determined that Probst died as a result of the fire, and his death was also ruled accidental.
Peter Semper’s Mysterious Death in Geneva
The most recent fire-related death occurred on March 26, when Peter Semper lost his life in a fire at 161 West Street in Geneva. Chief Investigator Stewart stated that the investigation into Semper’s cause of death is still ongoing pending final autopsy results. The fire, which engulfed a small home set back from the road, was quickly contained by firefighters from Geneva, Madison, Geneva-on-the-Lake, Harpersfield, and Saybrook. Tragically, Semper was found deceased inside the building.
These heartbreaking incidents have left the Ashtabula County community in shock and mourning. The loss of three beloved residents in such tragic circumstances serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of fire safety measures.
