Ricardo Burgos-Moreno Faces Charges After Reckless Driving Incident

A 34-year-old driver, Ricardo Burgos-Moreno, found himself in hot water after Rabun County deputies received multiple calls about his reckless driving on a Georgia highway. The incident occurred on Friday, just before 3 p.m., when a grey 2014 Nissan Sentra with an ‘overside load’ banner was spotted speeding and driving erratically southbound on Georgia State Route 15.

Witnesses Report Dangerous Behaviour

Concerned citizens reported that Burgos-Moreno was not only speeding but also running other drivers off the road. As the vehicle continued into the city of Clayton, officers observed him driving without headlights in the rain, following other cars too closely, and generally exhibiting dangerous behaviour on the road.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest

A Clayton officer attempted to catch up with the speeding vehicle as it headed towards the Clayton Walmart. When a Rabun County investigator tried to stop Burgos-Moreno, he accelerated within inches of another car, changed lanes without signalling, and continued to speed recklessly. Eventually, the investigator and a RCSO deputy managed to force Burgos-Moreno into the median just inside the school zone on GA 15, near the Hollifield Connector.

Charges and Arrest

Following the high-speed chase, Burgos-Moreno was arrested and taken to the Rabun County Detention Center. He now faces charges of DUI and has been issued citations from both the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and Clayton police for his dangerous driving behaviour.
