Hastings High School in Houston was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, according to Alief Independent School District officials, who said the campus remained under restricted access while emergency response procedures were in place.

ABC13 reported that SkyEye13 captured a heavy law enforcement presence over the school and that the district would not say why the lockdown was ordered. The station said Alief ISD asked parents and guardians not to come to campus until further notice and to avoid spreading unverified information.

FOX 26 Houston later reported that the lockdown was lifted and that Houston Police Department officials said a bomb threat had been called into the school around 1:15 p.m. The station added that officials were focused on getting buses in and students home safely, and said it was unclear whether any injuries were reported.

The district’s warning about transportation delays was also echoed in a KHOU video report, which said districtwide bus delays were expected as operations around the campus were disrupted.

This remains a developing story. The school district has not publicly released additional details about what prompted the initial lockdown beyond the news reports cited above, and it is still unclear whether anyone was harmed.
