Developing: Hastings High School in Alief ISD was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon, according to a district statement reported by ABC13. The district said it was asking parents and guardians to stay away from campus until further notice.
KHOU reported that the school was on lockdown and said districtwide bus delays were expected. ABC13 said SkyEye13 captured images of a heavy law-enforcement presence at the campus, but the district did not release details on what prompted the lockdown.
At least one social-media post also described the situation as an active shooter incident, but that claim has not been independently confirmed. The X post came from GorillaGangKerk, while KHOU’s X account later relayed the district-confirmed lockdown and bus-delay warning.
As of the latest reports, officials had not publicly explained what triggered the lockdown, and it remained unclear whether there was any direct threat to students or staff. Alief ISD said it would provide additional updates as verified information became available.
