In a shocking incident that took place earlier this month, a 41-year-old woman named Lisa Ann Heflin led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a head-on collision on the 405 Freeway. The incident began on May 17 at around 4:30 a.m. when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a disturbance call and were intentionally rammed by Heflin, who was driving a van.

After ramming the police cruiser, Heflin fled the scene, prompting police to initiate a pursuit at 4:49 a.m. Aerial footage captured by Sky5 showed Heflin attempting to ram several other patrol vehicles and yelling at officers from the window of her van. She even turned the van around to chase a patrol vehicle down a street and crash into it.

Despite police attempts to stop her with pit maneuvers on the northbound 405 Freeway, Heflin continued driving in the wrong direction until she crashed head-on into another vehicle near Sunset Boulevard in the Brentwood area. The collision caused significant damage to at least one vehicle and disabled Heflin’s van.

Covered in blood, Heflin exited the van, climbed on top of a big rig, and sat on the hood until officers took her into custody. The chaotic chase resulted in the damage of five police vehicles, two civilian vehicles, and a tractor-trailer.

On Wednesday, officials announced that Heflin could face more than 20 years in state prison for her actions. L.A. County District Attorney Gascón expressed gratitude that no civilians or law enforcement officers were seriously harmed during the reckless incident. He emphasized that reckless driving and endangering lives will not be tolerated in the community.
