Unlicensed Rider Arrested After Motorcycle Accident

A motorcycle accident in the early hours of May 12 led to the arrest of Dana Harper, a 50-year-old man who was under postrelease community supervision (PRCS) for a homicide in Alameda County. According to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan, officers responded to a report of a solo motorcycle crash on Moraga Avenue at 6 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Harper pushing a stolen 2016 SYN Wolf Classic motorcycle down the road. Despite checking Harper for injuries, officers discovered he was unlicensed and in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine. Harper was subsequently taken into custody and booked for possession of stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and a parole violation.

Police Search for Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Accident

In the early hours of May 11, a non-injury accident involving a stolen vehicle prompted a search for two suspects who are possibly juveniles. The incident occurred at 12:22 a.m. on Magnolia, where a Hyundai Elantra crashed into a pole after losing control. According to Captain Monahan, witnesses reported seeing a male and female running from the vehicle and entering a backyard on San Carlos. Despite the search, the suspects, along with a small dog, were not located. The stolen vehicle was towed from the scene.

Arrest Made After ALPR Alert

On the morning of May 15, a man was arrested following an alert from the city’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. The incident occurred at 4:14 a.m. at Linda and Kingston avenues, where police stopped a vehicle wanted for evading police in Emeryville. A search of the vehicle yielded 115 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a glass pipe, and $600 in cash. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Santa Rita Jail.

Man with Bench Warrants Arrested

A man sitting on a bench on Grand Avenue on the evening of May 16 was arrested after officers discovered outstanding bench warrants out of Berkeley for indecent exposure, loitering, and possession of paraphernalia. The man, who was hunched over at 8:20 p.m., was identified through a records check. He was subsequently taken into custody for the warrants.

Stolen Vehicle Involved in Hit-and-Run

At 11:29 p.m. on May 14, a stolen black 2010 Infiniti G37 failed to yield at the intersection of Bayo Vista and Oakland avenues. Following the incident, the vehicle was found unoccupied at the intersection of Olive and Oakland avenues after colliding with a parked vehicle. Despite a search of the area, the driver was not located, and the vehicle was towed from the scene..
