A fatal collision occurred in Caledonia, WI, involving a motorcyclist and a Tesla at the intersection of 4 Mile Road and Short Road on Saturday, May 18 at around 10 a.m.
### Tragic Incident Claims Life of Motorcyclist
Upon arrival at the scene, Caledonia police and Fire personnel found the motorcyclist, a 44-year-old man from Caledonia, had been ejected from his vehicle and was tragically pronounced dead. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of his family.
### Tesla Driver Involved in Collision
The driver of the Tesla, a 32-year-old Caledonia resident, was found inside his overturned vehicle. Although extrication efforts were required to free him, he only sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.
### Preliminary Investigations and Charges
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Tesla was traveling westbound on 4 Mile Road and attempting to pass the motorcyclist. Unfortunately, the Tesla entered the eastbound lane during the maneuver, resulting in a collision with the oncoming motorcycle.
Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the tragic incident. The Tesla driver has been arrested on charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, among other charges. The Caledonia Police Department will present these charges to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.

The Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation into the collision. Caledonia Police Chief Christopher Botsch expressed gratitude to the civilians who stopped to render aid at the scene.
