**Man Accused of Attacking Deputy During Arrest in Rochester**

In a shocking incident in Rochester, a man is currently in custody after allegedly attacking a deputy during a warrant arrest. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office reported that the arrest and subsequent assault took place in Rochester on Wednesday morning. Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 2300 block of Valleyhigh Dr. Northwest to serve the warrant at around 9:30 a.m.

According to Captain Tim Parkin of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, deputies believed that the wanted man, identified as 21-year-old Jabriel Meeks, was hiding in the mentioned home. However, when the deputies arrived, the home’s occupants claimed that Meeks was not present and demanded that the deputies leave.

Despite the initial denial of Meeks’ presence, deputies managed to enter the home and detain him. However, the situation quickly escalated when Meeks verbally assaulted the deputies, attempted to resist their efforts, and even kicked one of the deputies in the leg while being escorted to the squad car, as reported by Parkin.

Due to the escalating situation, additional law enforcement officers were called to the scene to assist in apprehending Meeks. He was eventually restrained on the ground until backup arrived, as detailed in the report by the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office. Meeks was subsequently booked into the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center by 10:15 a.m.

Meeks now faces charges of fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, obstructing the legal process, and providing a false name to law enforcement, according to Parkin. He is currently awaiting his first appearance in Olmsted County Court as the legal proceedings unfold.
