This assurance came in the aftermath of a fierce firefight that took place in downtown Kingston, resulting in the deaths of four alleged gangsters and leaving a police constable injured.

Residents Describe Terrifying Three-Hour Shooting Incident

Residents of downtown Kingston were left shaken by what they described as an almost three-hour long shooting incident that erupted near the intersection of King and Charles streets. One resident recounted how the sound of gunfire kept her awake from 1:30 am until around 4 o’clock in the morning. The intensity of the situation was palpable, with blood splatters visible on several streets in the area.

High Command Denounces Attack on State

The high command of the JCF condemned the violent incident as a direct assault not only on its members but on the State itself. Describing the actions of the gunmen as a challenge to the rule of law and the security frameworks that safeguard society, the high command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order.

Vehicle Abandoned at Intersection

A seven-seater vehicle, believed to have been used by the gunmen, was discovered abandoned at the intersection of King and Charles streets. Residents pointed out that the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene after the firefight, with at least two men reportedly escaping in the vicinity of Kingston Public Hospital.

Police Recover Firearms After Gun Battle

Following the exchange of gunfire between the officers and the armed men, the police were able to recover five firearms from the scene. The weapons seized included three pistols, an M16, and another rifle. The fatal shooting of the suspects marked a significant success for law enforcement in their ongoing efforts to target high-risk offenders.
