The Arrest
Wilmer Romero, 18, has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic shooting death of Dennis Ruiz-Trujillo Jr., 18, which occurred on April 4th. Romero is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center on a slew of charges, including murder, contempt of court, tampering with a prison monitoring device, trafficking a controlled substance, and trafficking marijuana.
The Incident
The Lexington police Department initiated an investigation following the shooting on Carlisle Avenue on April 4. They responded to reports of gunfire and upon arrival, discovered Dennis Ruiz-Trujillo Jr. with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Ruiz-Trujillo Jr. succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
