Sgt. Colin Arslanbas, a Missouri-native Marine, tragically lost his life during a training exercise on April 18 in North Carolina. The Marine Corps has identified him as a reconnaissance Marine assigned to the maritime Special Purpose Force, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. This dedicated Marine was killed in a training accident near Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, leaving behind a legacy of service and sacrifice.

Col. Todd Mahar, commanding officer of the 24th MEU, expressed the unit’s profound grief over the loss of Sgt. Colin Arslanbas. In a heartfelt statement, Col. Enlisting in the Marine Corps on March 16, 2020, Sgt. Arslanbas demonstrated a commitment to serving his country. His dedication and leadership were recognized earlier this month when he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. Throughout his service, he was decorated with prestigious awards, including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
