A shocking incident has rocked the community of Forsyth County, with a Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools student now facing charges after being caught on video slapping his teacher. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that this disturbing event took place in a classroom at Parkland High School. Student Faces Charges

In the video, the student can be seen standing over his seated teacher and slapping her in the face twice. As a result, a secure custody order was issued for the student this morning on charges that include communicating threats and two counts of assault. Superintendent Tricia McManus of Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools has made it clear that such behaviour will not be tolerated. Additionally, Parkland’s principal has informed families that the student will face disciplinary action within the district.

Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Greensboro

In a separate incident in Greensboro, police are currently searching for a driver who allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian before fleeing the scene. The tragic event occurred just after 1:45 a.m. on North Holden Road, leading to a closure between Watauga Drive and Cascade Drive for several hours as investigations continued. The victim, identified as 36-year-old Justin Presnell, was walking in the southbound lane when he was struck by a vehicle. Unfortunately, Presnell succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and authorities are still working to identify the driver responsible for this hit-and-run.

Sewer Line Break in Greensboro

Meanwhile, in Greensboro, one lane of Battleground Avenue is currently closed due to a broken sewer line between Brasfield Road and New Garden Road. The outside northbound lane is shut down while repairs are underway, with completion expected by 10:00 p.m. Drivers are advised to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.

Devastating Fire in Randolph County

Turning to Randolph County, a family has suffered a devastating loss after their home on Young Road was destroyed in an overnight fire. The East Side Fire Department shared images of the blaze, which broke out around 3:30 a.m. Firefighters from multiple departments responded to find the two-story log home engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, additional tanker trucks had to be called in to assist. Tragically, the fire reduced the home to rubble, along with all its contents and several vehicles nearby. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in connection with this heartbreaking incident.

Additional Charges in Fatal Greensboro Crash

In a separate development, a woman involved in a fatal car crash in Greensboro is now facing additional charges. Destiny Hankins was driving on the Interstate 73 S ramp to I-40 West when she struck a sedan parked behind a large SUV. The SUV owner, Marcus Nivens, was fatally injured, while Hankins sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Originally charged with misdemeanor offences, Hankins was recently arrested on felony charges of death by vehicle, driving while impaired, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has been taken into custody, with her bond set at $25,000.
