Arrests Made in Connection with Organized Burglary Ring in Ventura County
Multiple suspects have been arrested in connection with a series of residential burglaries in and around Ventura County, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. The arrests come after authorities were alerted to a residential burglary in Thousand Oaks on Jan. 11.
Suspects Identified
Following a preliminary investigation, detectives were able to identify several suspects and their associated vehicles. The organized burglary crew was found to be responsible for not only the Thousand Oaks burglary but also an additional burglary in Ventura County and others outside the county.
Three of the suspects were apprehended while traveling in two vehicles through a Calabasas neighborhood. Detectives arrested two of the suspects on charges of residential burglary, while a third suspect was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies for operating a vehicle displaying a fraudulent license plate.
Arrested Suspects
The two individuals arrested for residential burglary were identified as Sandra Lorena Ramos Becerra, 31, and Luis Leonardo Rivera Alarcon, 56, both of Los Angeles. Becerra was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility with bail set at $50,000. Alarcon was turned over to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and booked on residential burglary charges in San Bernardino County, with additional charges pending in Ventura County.
The driver of the vehicle displaying a fraudulent license plate was identified as 26-year-old Jeisson Dario Castellanos Hernandez of Los Angeles. Hernandez was booked at the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station before being cited and released.
Investigation Ongoing
The investigation into the organized burglary ring remains ongoing as authorities work to gather more information and evidence related to the case. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
Precautions for Residents
Authorities with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office have released a list of precautions residents can take to safeguard their homes from being targeted by burglars. These precautions include:
- Leaving indoor lights and/or televisions on during the evening hours to give the appearance the house is occupied
- Closing and locking all windows and doors when leaving the house
- Activating alarm systems when leaving the house for any duration of time
- Considering storing valuables in safe deposit boxes or other secure locations
Residents are advised to pay particular attention to vehicles that may be suspicious, such as those driving slowly up and down residential streets or parked in unusual locations. To report suspicious vehicles or individuals, residents can call the Ventura County Sheriff’s Dispatch at 805-654-9511.
