### Tragic Incident Unfolds in Silchar: Assam Cop Suspended After Murder Accused Dies by Suicide in Custody
In a shocking turn of events, an Assam police constable, Pinku Nath, has been suspended following the death of a murder accused in custody, allegedly by suicide. The incident took place in Silchar, where Raju Nath, a resident of Guwahati’s Pandu area, was arrested on March 22 in connection with the murder of a truck driver.
### Arrest and Investigation Details
Raju Nath was accused of hijacking and killing a truck driver from Meghalaya. The police were able to apprehend him after the owner of the truck tracked the vehicle using GPS. Nagaon superintendent of police Swapneel Deka stated that Raju was arrested before he could flee to Jorhat.
### Tragic Turn of Events
After being arrested, Raju was produced before the court on March 24 and granted police custody. However, on Tuesday morning, his lifeless body was discovered inside the Jakhalabandha police station cell. It is reported that he used a woollen blanket provided to him to hang himself.

SP Deka expressed concern over the negligence displayed by the police and suspended one constable in connection with the incident. Additionally, a magistrate-level inquiry has been requested by the district commissioner to further investigate the circumstances surrounding Raju’s death.
