**Princeton Township, Minnesota** – In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded on Sunday night, two lives were tragically cut short, along with the life of a beloved pet cat, due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident, which occurred in a home located in the 1600 block of 110th Avenue in Princeton Township.
Upon receiving reports of a possible overdose, deputies from the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office promptly rushed to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. What they encountered was a scene of unimaginable sadness. A 27-year-old man, identified as Marcos Larson, was discovered lifeless in an upstairs bedroom, accompanied by his dog who was in and out of consciousness. The condition of the dog remains uncertain.
Tragically, elsewhere in the house, a lifeless body was found, that of a 20-year-old woman named Kylea May. It was later determined that a cat, which had also succumbed to the same fate, was by her side. Fire officials, who were called to the scene, confirmed the presence of lethal levels of carbon monoxide within the residence, according to the Mille Lacs County Sheriff.
Another woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to the hospital for treatment of carbon monoxide exposure. Her current condition remains unknown.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the occupants of the ill-fated dwelling had resorted to using a gas-powered generator and propane heaters in their efforts to combat the lack of power and running water. These alternative heat sources, unfortunately, proved to be fatal due to the toxic buildup of carbon monoxide.
As a result of this tragedy, officials are urging every household to equip themselves with multiple carbon monoxide detectors, strategically placed at intervals of 10 feet, including within every bedroom.
