Hudson Valley Man Arrested for Drunk Driving with Children in Car on I-87
A shocking incident unfolded on Monday when New York State police from the Lower Hudson Valley apprehended a local man for driving under the influence with two young children in his vehicle on the New York State Thruway.
The arrest took place on Saturday, Feb. 10, around 5:25 a.m. when State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the village of Ardsley for multiple vehicle and traffic violations. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Frankln Agualsaca Caiza of Spring Valley, New York, was subsequently taken into custody.
Authorities allege that Caiza was intoxicated while operating his vehicle, with a blood alcohol content of 0.10 percent. What makes this case even more disturbing is the fact that he had a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old child in the car with him at the time.
After his arrest, Caiza was transported and processed at State Police headquarters in Tarrytown. Fortunately, the children were safely turned over to a relative.
Caiza now faces several charges, including DWI with a child, a felony, as well as DWI and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors. He has been released and is set to appear in the Village of Ardsley Court next month.
