In a devastating accident that occurred in the early hours of Monday, three individuals lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries, two of them critically, when an overloaded SUV collided head-on with a cement-laden lorry. The incident took place in Irigepalle village of Agali mandal in Sri Sathya Sai (SSS) district.
The ill-fated SUV, carrying a total of 20 individuals, was returning from a wedding function in Agili to Dasappanapalem village of Rolla mandal. Tragically, the collision occurred at an alarming speed on the highway, resulting in the loss of three lives. The deceased have been identified as Govindappa (40), Ammajakka (45), and Kantha Raju (39), who were travelling in the SUV.
Among the 14 injured individuals, the condition of two remains critical, according to the latest reports. Prompt response from senior police officials from Puttaparthi and Hindupur ensured a swift rescue operation, with all the injured individuals being rushed to the nearby area hospital for immediate medical attention.
