A shooting at a bus station near Jerusalem on Thursday morning has left three Israelis dead and 11 others injured. Israeli police have identified the shooters as two Hamas terrorists who arrived at the Givat Shaul junction in an armed vehicle and opened fire on unsuspecting victims. The police responded to the scene at around 7:40 a.m. local time.

The three victims who lost their lives in the attack have been identified as 73-year-old Rabbi Elimelech Wasserman, 67-year-old Hana Ifergan, and 24-year-old Livia Dickman. The two shooters, who were from east Jerusalem, were shot and killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers in the area. Unfortunately, a civilian was also killed during the exchange.

According to Israeli media, the shooters were brothers and had ties to Hamas. The initial investigation reveals that the terrorists arrived at the scene in the morning armed with an M-16 rifle and a handgun. They began shooting at civilians before being killed by IDF soldiers. Ammunition and weaponry were found in their car.

The surviving victims have been transported to two different hospitals for treatment. Three victims with gunshot wounds were taken to Hadassah Hospital, while four others were being treated for non-physical injuries. Several more victims were taken to Shaarei Tzedek Hospital, where two succumbed to their injuries.

The area of the attack has been cordoned off, and searches are being conducted to rule out any additional suspects. The shooting occurred while Israel and Hamas were supposed to be observing a temporary cease-fire as part of a wider conflict that began when Hamas invaded Israel on October 7.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Jack Lew, condemned the attack on social media, offering his condolences to the families of the victims. Meanwhile, the Israeli Defense Forces reported a separate ramming attack at an Israeli checkpoint in the Jordan Valley area, where two soldiers sustained minor injuries.
