Nevada State Police have reported that an 87-year-old man died in a tragic accident involving a tractor carrying double tankers in Lincoln County on November 18th. The incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on State Route 375 eastbound, just west of Old Mill Street.
According to the police investigation, the driver of the tractor had slowed down to make a right turn into a parking lot when the accident occurred. At the same time, a Ford 150 driven by Alfred S., an 87-year-old man from Cortez, Colorado, was traveling behind the tractor. The Ford driver skidded into the right gravel shoulder and collided with the front tanker.
Tragically, Alfred S. died at the scene. Nevada State Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which is being handled by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Southern Command Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team.
In a statement, the police said, “This investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Southern Command Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team. This fatality marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Southern Command’s 67th fatal crash, resulting in 81 fatalities for 2023.”
The accident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution at all times. The Nevada State Police will continue to work diligently to determine the exact cause of the collision.
