Kokomo Man Charged with Drug Possession After Traffic Stop in Wabash County

A man from Kokomo, Indiana, has been charged after Indiana State Troopers discovered marijuana and over 200 ecstasy pills in his car during a traffic stop on Thanksgiving. The incident took place in Wabash County around 11 a.m. when troopers noticed a GMC Acadia making unsafe lane movements on U.S. 24 near State Road 115. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Keland L. Brown, was stopped by the troopers.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the troopers detected the scent of marijuana emanating from inside. A subsequent search of the GMC revealed approximately four grams of suspected marijuana and 208 pills. The pills were later confirmed to be MDMA/ecstasy and weighed over 57 grams.

In addition to the drug-related charges, Brown was found to have a suspended license and two active warrants from Dekalb and Carroll counties. Consequently, he was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County jail.

Court records showed that Brown has been charged with driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana. The possession charges are classified as Class A misdemeanors, while the possession of marijuana charge is considered a Class B misdemeanor. A pretrial conference has been scheduled for January 29, 2024, at 9 a.m.

The discovery of drugs and the subsequent arrest serve as a reminder of law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal drug use.
