Two Persons Die After Consuming Spurious Liquor in Bihar’s Darbhanga District

Two people have died and two others are in critical condition after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Bihar’s Darbhanga district. The police are investigating the incident.

In the arid region of Bihar, tragedy struck as two individuals lost their lives allegedly after consuming illicit liquor in the Darbhanga district. The incident has left two others critically ill, who are currently receiving treatment at the DMCH and Samastipur hospital respectively.

The incident took place in Maqsoodpur village, located in the Hayaghat block of Darbhanga district. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. The deceased have been identified as Santosh Kumar Das and Sahani, according to reliable sources.

Reportedly, on Sunday around 1 pm, Laltoon Sahni (55 years old), Arjun Das (29 years old), Santosh Kumar Das (26 years old), Sahani (50 years old), and others gathered together in Maqsoodpur village to consume country liquor. Unfortunately, the health of four individuals deteriorated on Monday morning. Consequently, their family members rushed them to Hayaghat Primary Health Center for immediate medical attention.

Tragically, Santosh Kumar Das and Bhukla Sahni succumbed to their condition during treatment at approximately 10 am. The bodies of the deceased have been cremated. Presently, Laltun Sahni is receiving treatment at DMCH, while Arjun Das is undergoing treatment in Samastipur.

Parvati Devi, the daughter of victim Laltoon Sahni, confirmed that her father and uncle, along with others, had consumed alcohol. She stated, “Father and uncle drank a little alcohol. These people drink alcohol every day. Out of about four people who consumed alcohol, two people from my village have died. One of those who died was my uncle. While the other one is a brother from the same village. One of the men who is left after drinking alcohol is admitted to the hospital in Samastipur, and my father is undergoing treatment in DMCH.”

Hayaghat police station in-charge, Sanjay Singh, stated that they have received information about the deaths related to alcohol consumption. The investigation is underway, and only after a thorough examination will the true cause of death be determined. Presently, no definitive conclusions can be drawn.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with the consumption of spurious liquor and highlights the need for stricter measures to combat the production and distribution of such illicit substances..
