A pedestrian was killed on Friday night after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate-5 in Marion County, Oregon. The victim, Arnulfo Chavez, was declared dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

According to OSP, the vehicle involved in the accident was a Honda CRV driven by Michael Stevenson, 45. Stevenson was traveling south on I-5 when the collision occurred with Chavez, who was attempting to cross the highway. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Chavez was declared dead at the scene.

In the aftermath of the accident, Stevenson remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He and his passenger, Laura Stevenson, 53, sustained minor injuries and were subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.
