A tragic incident occurred in Jashore town last night, where a Jubo League activist was stabbed to death and two others were injured. The deceased, Ripon Hossain, 27, hailed from the Kharki Dhopapara area in the town. Ripon was actively involved in Jubo League activities, according to Sultan Mahmud, former general secretary of the Jashore district Jubo League committee.

The incident took place while Ripon, along with Bipul and Mushtaq, was traveling towards Daratana from the Railway Gate area on a rickshaw. A group of eight to ten individuals riding on two battery-run easy bikes blocked their rickshaw near a shop on Mujib Road and attacked them indiscriminately with sharp weapons. The injured victims were rushed to Jashore General Hospital, where Ripon was pronounced dead by physician Hasib Muhammad Ali.

Ripon’s father, Habibur Rahman, filed a case with Jashore’s Kotwali Police Station later in the day. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (C-Circle) Jewel Imran.

In the midst of the tragedy, Ripon’s sister, Nilufar Yasmin, alleged that a local criminal and his associates orchestrated the attack on her brother on Mujib Road. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the loss of a young life has left many questioning the safety and security of the town.

Authorities and law enforcement agencies are urged to expedite the investigation and bring the culprits to justice. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining law and order in society to ensure the safety of its citizens.
