A well-known photographer in Atlanta has had to put his career on hold after a terrifying attack earlier this month. The victim, who wishes to remain unidentified for safety reasons, was brutally assaulted on October 5th in northwest Atlanta. The incident has left him with serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket and a severe concussion.
The victim, who has been working as a professional photographer for the past five years, spoke to Channel 2’s Larry Spruill about the attack. He recalled the horrifying ordeal, stating that the attacker forced his way into his apartment while he was at home. The victim initially mistook the intruder for his brother, but when he realized it was a stranger, he tried to reason with him. However, the attacker became violent, punching the victim in the eye and beating him.
According to the police report, the suspect, identified as Justin Gilliam, repeatedly attacked the victim and even used a handheld vacuum as a weapon. Remarkably, the victim did not know Gilliam at all, making the attack even more shocking. Gilliam eventually locked himself inside his own apartment, prompting the police to call in the SWAT team for assistance.
Gilliam was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery-Felony and Sexual Battery-Misdemeanor. It was later revealed that he had also slapped another woman on the buttocks before the attack on the photographer.
The victim, while still processing the emotional aftermath of the incident, plans to take his case to court. In the meantime, his photography career is on hold as he focuses on his recovery.
