A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in Sydney’s inner west. Masei Tavui was arrested and police seized “clothing relevant to their investigation” during a search of his home. The victim, Dejan ‘Danny’ Radulovic, suffered significant injuries and was found to have a gunshot wound.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder as police investigate a shocking incident in Sydney’s inner west. Masei Tavui was arrested by Liverpool Police and charged with murder on Tuesday afternoon. The arrest came after five riot squad police officers executed a search warrant at Mr Tavui’s home in Austral. The officers were seen on camera searching the property and speaking to the 19-year-old before taking him into custody. Mr Tavui was placed in handcuffs and taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was refused bail and will face court on Tuesday.
The investigation stems from a tragic incident on July 29, when police were called to Donnelly Street in Balmain following reports of an assault. Dejan ‘Danny’ Radulovic, 29, was found at the scene with significant head and torso injuries. He was treated by paramedics and taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital but sadly could not be saved. An autopsy revealed that Mr Radulovic had also suffered a gunshot wound.
Police have been told that Mr Radulovic was injured during an altercation with two men before they fled the scene in a white Jeep. The car was later found abandoned in Five Dock, with a gun inside. It has been reported that Mr Radulovic was on parole for drug supply at the time of his death.
Another man has already been charged as an accessory to the murder and is currently before the court. The arrest of Masei Tavui brings the investigation another step closer to justice for the victim and his family.
