OLDSMAR, Fla. – A man has been taken into custody on attempted first-degree murder charges following a shooting at a residence in Oldsmar, Florida. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred on Monday at a home on Azalea Court.

Details of the Incident

Authorities were alerted to the shooting at approximately 1:15 a.m. when 20-year-old Kemani Wright was seen firing a gun both inside and outside of the property. In a brazen act, Wright also stole the homeowner’s 2004 Lexus and fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive.

Upon further investigation, detectives discovered that Wright had sent threatening messages to the homeowner, indicating harm towards their child. The suspect had been dropped off near the residence by a rideshare service shortly before the shooting took place.

Wright targeted two men in the front yard, firing multiple rounds before they sought refuge inside the house. He pursued them inside, breaking down a bedroom door and firing shots into the bathroom where the victims were hiding. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire.

Arrest and Detainment

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Service Task Force to track down Kemani Wright, who was apprehended in Marion County. He has since been placed under arrest and is currently being held at the Marion County Jail.
