Gene Allen Green Jr., a beloved member of the Fort Madison community, passed away at the age of 63. He was known for his kind and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Gene was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished spending time with his family.

Gene was born in Fort Madison, Iowa to Gene Sr. and Mary Green. He attended Fort Madison High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. After graduation, Gene went on to pursue a career in construction, where he became a respected and skilled craftsman.

In his free time, Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to supporting the local high school teams. Gene had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party, making sure everyone around him was smiling and laughing.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sarah, his children, Michael (Jessica) and Emily (David), and his grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, and Sophia. He is also survived by his siblings, Susan (Mark) and John (Lisa), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at the Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Gene’s memory.

Gene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
