Woman Killed in Five-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 95 identified

On September 15th, tragedy struck on Interstate 95 in Augusta as a five-vehicle crash claimed the life of Sari Ohmart, a 68-year-old woman from Brewer. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near Exit 113, when a pickup truck rear-ended the 2024 Toyota SUV that Ohmart was a passenger in.

Unfortunately, Ohmart was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband, Leslie Ohmart, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. A dog inside the vehicle also lost its life in the collision. The crash occurred as the Ohmarts’ vehicle was stopped due to a construction zone lane closure.

The driver of the pickup truck, Robin Carter, 28, of Limerick, was also injured but his injuries were not life-threatening. The crash ultimately involved five vehicles, with others sustaining injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Maine State Police, along with emergency responders from various agencies, were on the scene to investigate and assist with the aftermath of the crash. The highway was temporarily closed, with traffic being diverted onto Exit 113, before all lanes were reopened around 5:50 p.m.
