George Michael (Mike) Tetreau, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Brownsville, Texas at the age of 73. He was born on November 29, 1950, in Brawley, California to John and Mary Tetreau. George grew up in Brownsville, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a strong sense of community.
After graduating from Brownsville High School, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor and dedication. He was a proud Marine, always exemplifying the values of loyalty, courage, and selflessness. His time in the military shaped him into the strong and resilient man that his family and friends knew and loved.
George was a hardworking individual who excelled in everything he put his mind to. After his military service, he pursued a career in construction, where he demonstrated his skill and craftsmanship on numerous projects throughout the Brownsville area. He took great pride in his work and was respected by his colleagues for his professionalism and attention to detail.
In his free time, George enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Sarah, and a loving father to his three children, Michael, Emily, and Sarah. His family was the center of his world, and he always made sure to prioritize their happiness and well-being above all else.
George had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with his friends and family. He loved exploring the natural beauty of Texas and often took road trips to visit different national parks and wildlife reserves. His adventurous spirit and love for nature inspired those around him to appreciate the world we live in.
George will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering strength, and infectious sense of humor. A celebration of George’s life will be held at Brownsville Community Center on September 10, 2024, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and pay tribute to a remarkable man who will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in George’s honor.
