Noida Crime: Former Delhi Police Constable Arrested for Murder of Businessman

According to Saad Miya Khan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Greater Noida, the former constable had allegedly hatched the murder plot within a week of watching the crime thriller “Drishyam” starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, as well as other crime-based web series. The incident began when Praveen, who had met Sharma through an intermediary, expressed interest in purchasing the businessman’s flat in a Greater Noida society.
However, the dispute escalated when Sharma discovered that the price of the flat in the SKA society was higher than the agreed amount. Unhappy with the situation, Praveen hatched a sinister plan to eliminate Sharma. On August 9, the former constable picked up Sharma from his office, claiming he would hand over the remaining payment for the flat. The two then drove to a society’s parking lot, where they began drinking. When Sharma was intoxicated, Praveen struck him on the head with a hammer before strangling him to death.
After the victim’s family reported him missing, an extensive investigation was launched, leading to Praveen’s arrest. The police have recovered the hammer used in the crime, as well as a car belonging to the accused. Praveen has been booked under Sections 103(1) (charges of murder), 238 (destroying evidence), and 123 (giving poison to another person) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
