MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Southeast D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred in Southeast D.C. on Monday, August 19, 2024. At approximately 8:25 p.m., MPD officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast. Upon arrival, they discovered two gunshot victims, one of whom, identified as 19-year-old Vonte Martin of Southeast, D.C., tragically lost his life at the scene.

The second victim, also an adult male, was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital by DC Fire and EMS for urgent medical treatment. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with this devastating incident. The MPD is urging the public to come forward with any information they may have regarding the shooting. In an attempt to incentivize the sharing of valuable information, the MPD is offering a substantial reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence.
