BC Man Faces 23 Charges in Cross-Country Sextortion Investigation
A 19-year-old man from Burnaby, British Columbia, Anwer Jelassi, is facing a total of 23 charges after a cross-country sextortion investigation. The charges stem from incidents involving teenagers in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario. According to Burnaby RCMP, Jelassi was charged with the offenses on July 11.

The charges against Jelassi include nine counts of extortion, three counts of telecommunicating to lure a child under 18, one count of telecommunicating to lure a child under 16, and more. As part of his court-ordered conditions, Jelassi is prohibited from contacting any of his victims or anyone under the age of 16. He is also not allowed to access social media or dating sites, including popular platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Bumble, or Tinder.
